Job Summary
You'll lead the day to day work of our client's Estimating Department, producing competitive, accurate bids across multiple lines of business:
- Heavy Civil: Pile supported foundations, large excavations, roads, bridges, site work
- Underground Utilities: Water, electric, gas, storm, sanitary, communications/fiber
- Pipe Rehabilitation: Trenchless methods
- Guide Rail & Sign Structures
- Renewable Energy: Wind, solar, battery storage
The team pursues work throughout NJ, NY, PA, DE, MD, and VA.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop full estimates (quantity takeoffs, labor/equipment crews, materials, subcontractor scope) for assigned projects
- Create and manage estimate schedules to meet bid deadlines
- Attend pre bid meetings and site visits; review plans/specs in detail
- Determine means & methods tailored to site conditions
- Direct & mentor Estimating Engineers: assign take offs, review vendor quotes, verify subquote conformance
- Build a detailed work breakdown structure (labor, equipment, materials)
- Present and defend your estimate in internal bid review sessions
- Finalize and submit bids to owners by required due dates
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field preferred
- Estimator Experience: 6-8+ years with escalating responsibility on large/complex bids
- Field Experience: 8-10+ years in construction operations, demonstrating growth in leadership
- Proficient in reading contract drawings, specs, and performing takeoffs
- Strong understanding of construction means & methods
- Excellent presentation and negotiation skills with senior management and owners
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn estimating software (B2W preferred; training provided)
- Preferred: Bluebeam, Agtek (or similar), Primavera (or other scheduling tools)
- High level Excel skills; proficient with Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Project)

Salary - 145K to 180k
