Job Description

The Senior Engineer is responsible for managing multiple production and non-production server operating systems and database software. This individual works closely with the System and Database Architects, IT Operation Engineers, Application Developers, QA, Automation and Software DevOps Manager to deliver server and software solutions that support business strategies. The Senior Engineer serves as the point on internal and client technology initiatives. You will work in an environment that includes Linux, MySQL and AWS cloud technology. This position will work primarily 2nd shift hours starting at approximately 1pm EST.

Education Requirement:
  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum of five (5) years of MySQL database work experience
  • Good knowledge of both MySQL and InnoDB
  • MySQL Replication (Master-Master, Master-Slave)
  • Strong experience working with Linux/Unix operating systems and commands is required.
  • Strong programming and debugging skills.
  • Performance tuning, query optimization, & index tuning
  • Backup and Recovery knowledge required (mysqldump, XtraBackup)
  • Experience with Windows and Linux systems in public clouds
  • Proven experience working within an AWS cloud ecosystem (VPC, EC2, EKS, RDS)
  • Experience working in Agile development environment.
  • ETL development and maintenance experience
  • Data modeling experience
  • Ability to start work on the 2nd shift (1pm ET) and support off-hour maintenance and deployments regularly.
Additional Desired Skills:
  • Experience with Galera / XtraDB Cluster, & HAProxy
  • Experience with tools from the Percona Toolkit
  • Experience developing solutions using automation tools such as Ansible.
  • Experience with Nagios, Percona Monitoring Plugins and other monitoring tools.
  • Experience with high availability concepts (Advanced Multi-Master Replication, Data Guard, RAC)
