As a Senior Engineer, you will be expected to lead through your technical contributions. Acting as a trusted adviser for key technologies, platforms, and capability domains, you will create clear communications, code samples, blog content, and other resources to disseminate knowledge both within and beyond our organization. While you will specialize in a particular subject area, your insights and contributions will be valued organization-wide.

Your focus will be on the Enterprise Data Management team, where you'll spearhead the design and architecture of critical platforms for data protection, remediation, and retention.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Articulate and promote a bold technical vision for your domain.
  • Break down complex problems into actionable and operational solutions.
  • Ensure the quality of technical design and implementation.
  • Serve as an expert on critical system characteristics, including performance, scalability, and operability.
  • Engage in continuous learning and share advanced technical knowledge within our community.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently, balancing time effectively to maximize impact.
  • Act as a mentor in the tech community, helping to elevate the technical skills and knowledge of our engineering and product teams.
  • Create and oversee architecture decision records while demonstrating hands-on expertise in developing quick proof of concepts (POCs).
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • At least 7 years of experience in:
  • General software development.
  • Data engineering and architecture.
  • Enterprise architecture and design patterns.
  • Data technologies, including Big Data processing at scale, Data Streaming, Data Warehousing, Python, Spark, Databricks.
  • Web technologies such as Microservices, Python, GoLang, and Rust.
  • Other areas of expertise, including:
  • Software engineering and architecture.
  • Security engineering and architecture.
  • Cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Solution architecture.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of professional experience coding in commonly used languages such as Java, Python, Go, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • At least 10 years of professional experience managing the full lifecycle of system development, from conception through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and support.
  • At least 3 years of experience with cloud technologies.
  • 10+ years of experience in Networking (BGP, Wi-Fi, SD-WAN, Cloud Networking, and Data Center Networking).

This role is based in McLean, VA, with a salary range of $263,900 - $301,200, or Richmond, VA, with a salary range of $239,900 - $273,800.
