The Account Executive serves as the overall service contact for a large book of small employee benefits customers. This role involves a high degree of independence and discretion in decision-making. The account executive works closely with clients to understand their needs, design customized benefits packages, develop additional lines of business, and ensure smooth implementation and administration of the benefit plans.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Manage and retain an existing book of business and pursue new opportunities through referrals and cross-selling.
- Establish, cultivate and manage customer relations with customer and prospective decision-makers; as well as professional relationships with carrier partners, and internal resources throughout the organization.
- Plan and direct renewal process for health and life coverages. Recommend the most appropriate insurance solutions, alternative strategies, plan modeling, and cost reduction opportunities.
- Ensure renewal, sales, and insurance operations compliance requirements are documented into the agency management system.
- Establish, cultivate, and manage customer relations with all levels of customer's decision-makers as well as the day-to-day technical customer representatives.
- Routinely meet with and educate customers on benefits legislation, regulatory requirements, compliance, and new product information that are relevant to their market size.
- Identify, develop, and oversee customer needs and service plans for each customer to ensuring exceptional customer service and customer satisfaction.
- Manage resolution of customer issues as well as escalated employee enrollment and claims issues.
- Prepare and execute proposals and presentations while ensuring agreement with customer's requests/requirements.
- Support the sales team with new business meetings and implementation of new customers.
- Promote a commitment to achieve or exceed internal and external performance standards and department/agency goals.
- Support training initiatives for EB Select teammates.
- Promote teamwork within the department and profit center through support, knowledge sharing, and a positive attitude.
- Participate in training opportunities to remain current on industry information, new product development, legislation, coverages, technology, and continuing education required for valid licensing.
- Follow agency guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Additional Senior Responsibilities
- Read, analyze, interpret, and respond to the most complex documents, sensitive inquires or complaints, and visual presentations (e.g. PowerPoint software, graphs, tables, charts, slides)
- Effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, top management, and insurance carriers/vendors through persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics
- Support the growth and development of team members through informal mentoring to junior team members, presentations to EB team during team meetings, and other avenues
- Identify and execute one to two special projects per year, in conjunction with EB Leader, with defined objectives and milestones
- Other duties or special projects may be assigned.
Additional Senior Responsibilities
- Create and analyze monthly, quarterly and year to date reporting data for all lines of coverage.
- Mentor for newer Executives.
- Creates Innovative ways for our customers and company to be successful.
- Maintain relations with vendors and knowledge of their programs.
- Attend external seminars for education and industry networking.
- Other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

- Four-year college degree preferred.
- Must have and maintain current Life & Health Insurance License for required states.
- 8+ years' experience in the employee benefits industry. Proficient knowledge of insurance coverages, contracts, and state regulations where business is conducted.
- 3+ years of financial experience.
- Exceptional telephone demeanor
- Must have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Professional Designation specific to the area of specialty preferred.
