Overview LMI seeks an experienced Senior Embedded Systems Design Engineer to support a DoD client. The ideal candidate will be an electrical engineer or computer scientist with expertise in integration of communications and data feeds across RFID, sensors, internet of things (IOT), Bluetooth, and similar technologies. This position will focus heavily on the integration and, potentially, creation of embedded software purpose-built for DoD use cases, the extension of existing embedded software to new use cases, and the modification of embedded software to comply with DoD cybersecurity requirements. Position is remote with extensive travel expected, particularly in the first year. This position requires an active Secret clearance.

Responsibilities
  • Work with partner companies to identify and mitigate technical risks.
  • Develop and deploy wireless data collection and communications solutions tailored to unique operational needs.
  • Support development of new wireless communications protocols to enhance logistics processes.
  • Recommend and implement firmware configuration changes.
  • Troubleshoot and suggest mitigation strategies for cyber risk management issues related to systems integration.
  • Develop and analyze communications protocol requirements given dynamic bandwidth, latency, frequency, proximity, and payload requirements.
  • Provide engineering support, optimization recommendations, and troubleshooting for various systems.
  • Develop and implement test and qualification procedures for wireless communication and data collection systems.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or related field
  • 10-15 years of relevant embedded systems design experience
  • Experience in electrical engineering and software development
  • Knowledge of ARM architecture
  • Experience with firmware development
  • Good problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong debugging and embedded software skills
  • Experience leading teams
  • Professional and detail-oriented work ethic
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills
  • DOD Secret clearance
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
Target salary range: $131,733 - $227,847
