Description
My client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Estimator to join our team at a leading electrical contracting company affiliated with IBEW Local 98. The Senior Estimator will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs, materials, and timeframes required for electrical construction projects. This individual will play a key role in ensuring the profitability of the company by delivering precise, competitive, and well-supported bids for projects of various scopes and sizes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical contracting, familiarity with union labor standards, and experience working in both public and private sectors.
Profile
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for electrical construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead costs. Develop comprehensive bid packages based on drawings, specifications, and other project documents.
- Coordinate with project managers, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing for materials, labor, and equipment. Ensure that union labor rates and conditions are properly reflected in all estimates.
- Review project documents (blueprints, specifications, etc.) to identify project scope, risks, and opportunities for cost savings. Provide recommendations to optimize project profitability while maintaining quality and schedule requirements.
- Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers. Evaluate subcontractor proposals and qualifications, and ensure their inclusion in estimates where applicable.
- Ensure that all estimates are completed on time and that they are accurate, detailed, and meet the project's requirements. Lead bid preparation for submission, ensuring compliance with all contract requirements.
- Work closely with project managers, design teams, and other departments to ensure accurate project forecasting. Provide feedback on project performance and assist in the analysis of cost variances during project execution.
- Provide ongoing support to the field teams during project execution, including clarifications and revisions to estimates if necessary. Participate in project meetings as required.
- Mentor and guide junior estimators, sharing knowledge and best practices to improve team performance.
