Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and life-cycle support of high-power amplifier systems and electronic cabinets supporting U.S. Navy submarine SONAR capabilities.
  • Analyze customer requirements and lead trade studies to develop innovative, cost-effective solutions for acoustic system designs.
  • Oversee full system development life cycle including concept design, modeling/simulation, requirements allocation, platform integration, and design verification.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure designs meet functional, performance, and production requirements.
  • Create and review technical documentation including schematics, interface control drawings, and assembly instructions.
  • Perform and guide system/electrical analyses such as power distribution, signal integrity, thermal behavior, and failure modes.
  • Evaluate component selection for performance impacts and system optimization.
  • Support proposals and lead customer-facing technical presentations and design reviews.
  • Manage and mentor junior engineers and ensure timely completion of design milestones.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, production teams, and Navy representatives to meet delivery schedules and compliance standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of related experience (or 8+ years with a Master's degree).
  • Active Secret Clearance required.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and digital engineering workflows.
  • Deep knowledge of power amplifier design (Class A, AB, C, D, S) and analog/power hardware.
  • Familiarity with acoustic systems, SONAR technology, or acoustic transducer/projector applications.
  • Hands-on experience with system/electrical requirements analysis, system architecture, and integration planning.
  • Experience in developing input power systems, specifying telemetry, D/A conversion, timing systems, and unit controllers.
  • Strong understanding of cables, connectors, and receptacles for ruggedized military applications.
  • Experience leading engineering teams and managing technical schedules, risks, and deliverables.
  • Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with acoustic systems for submarines or submersibles.
  • Background in inboard/outboard electronics, or linear amplifier design.
  • Familiarity with defense/maritime standards for electronic hardware.
