Job duties Conduct independent and original research on economic policy issues. Convey the results internally to the Research Department, Bank President, and Boards of Directors through briefings and presentations. Attend research conferences on important, timely topics and make presentations at high-level research venues. Widely disseminate research findings externally to the academic community, policymakers, and the general public through research articles published in peer-reviewed scholarly journals and other highly impactful research outlets in the fields of economics, finance, business, and public policy. Provide commentary and recommendations on current economic developments and policy issues to senior management and others. Study developments in particular field of specialization, advise colleagues, and apply developments as appropriate to monetary policy and financial oversight. Contribute to Bank publications, including Economic Letters. Foster professional development of assigned research associates. Make ongoing research contributions by continuing to publish in high-quality, peer-reviewed academic journals. Make ongoing contributions in the area of policy analysis that will impact the policy process. Perform other duties and services as assigned. 15% domestic/international travel. Ability to WFH (work from home) 2-3 days/week. Background check required for successful candidates. Education and Experience required Ph.D. in Economics and 1 year of experience as an economist. Background A record of research in economic forecasting and modeling with applications to monetary economics and/or delivering presentations and written analysis on issues relevant to U.S. monetary policy. Proven record of independent and original academic research as evidenced by one or more publications in peer-reviewed academic journals ranked by Research Papers in Economics (RePEc) in the fields of macroeconomics, monetary policy, economic growth, financial economics, international finance and trade, climate risk, econometric methods, or applied microeconomics fields such as labor economics and urban economics, analyzing an original, relevant topic that impacts current or recent aspects of monetary policy and the economy.
