Role:

The Senior Director of Payroll Services & HRIS (UKG) is responsible for the strategic direction, management, and operational oversight of the organization's payroll functions and HR Information Systems (HRIS), specifically with a focus on UKG systems. This role ensures the efficient and accurate execution of payroll processes while leveraging HRIS technology to optimize employee data management, reporting, and compliance.

This leader will collaborate with HR, Finance, and IT departments to ensure seamless integration of payroll, benefits, and workforce management systems, driving process improvements and system enhancements. The Senior Director will also play a critical role in compliance with labor laws, tax regulations, and audit requirements.

Min Compensation:

Responsibilities:
Oversees end-to-end payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations

Leads the design and implementation of payroll policies, procedures, and controls to ensure smooth operations and minimize errors

Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax filings, wage reporting, and garnishments

Manages multi-state payroll complexities and oversee international payroll operations as required

Serves as the system owner for UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) platforms, ensuring they are effectively configured and maintained to support payroll, timekeeping, and workforce management

Partners with HR and IT teams to maintain, upgrade, and enhance the HRIS system, ensuring data accuracy and process efficiency

Oversees the implementation of new modules or features within UKG to improve HR and payroll processes, employee self-service, and reporting capabilities

Ensures the security, confidentiality, and integrity of employee payroll data within the HRIS system

Ensures payroll practices comply with all legal requirements, including FLSA, wage and hour laws, and tax regulations

Leads internal and external audits related to payroll and HRIS, providing accurate documentation and support

Maintains awareness of changes in payroll regulations and HRIS technologies, adapting processes as needed to stay compliant and efficient

Leads and mentors a team of payroll professionals and HRIS administrators, providing guidance, support, and professional development

Establishes clear performance goals, conducts regular evaluations, and drives a culture of accountability and excellence within the team

Fosters collaboration across HR, Finance, and IT teams to ensure integrated solutions and alignment with business objectives

Identifies and implements opportunities for process improvements in payroll and HRIS functions to enhance efficiency and accuracy

Leverages technology, automation, and data analytics to streamline payroll operations and improve reporting

Drives initiatives to enhance employee experience, such as improved self-service tools, timely pay corrections, and faster resolution of payroll issues

Develops and manages payroll reporting to support financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting

Provides regular payroll and workforce reports to senior leadership, including headcount, labor costs, overtime, and compliance metrics

Utilizes HRIS data to provide insights into workforce trends and support decision-making across HR and Finance functions

Completes assigned tasks in a safe, accurate, thorough, and alert manner

Upholds Company policies and procedures

Works in a professional manner with managers, supervisors, coworkers, customers, and the public

Other related job duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with strong interpersonal abilities in both written and oral formats, enabling effective interaction with senior leadership and various departments

Proficiency in UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) or other HRIS/payroll platforms

Deep understanding of payroll regulations and HRIS security requirements to minimize risk and ensure compliance

Strong leadership and team development skills, with experience managing cross-functional teams

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly in data analysis and reporting

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Ability to prioritize duties and manage multiple projects from start to finish with minimal supervision

Ability to lead and inspire a team to deliver excellence in payroll operations and HRIS management

Proficient in Microsoft Office, including advanced skills in Excel (Pivot tables, Vlookup, Macros, If Statements, Formulas)

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's Degree preferred) or an equivalent combination of the requirements

10+ years of payroll management experience, including multi-state payroll

5+ years of experience managing HRIS platforms, with expertise in UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group), preferred

Proven track record of leading payroll and HRIS system implementations or upgrades

Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and HR compliance

Previous experience in HVAC Industry or other service business preferred

Physical/Environmental Requirements:

Continuously able to work in office environment

Continuously able to sit at a computer for up to 8 hours

Able to alternate between sitting and standing, as needed throughout the day

Occasionally able to lift up to 15

Occasionally requires walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, kneeling, pushing/pulling, bending, and crouching
