SENIOR DIRECTOR, HUMAN RESOURCES AND ADMINISTRATION
HYBRID ROLE LOCATED IN D.C.
The Senior Director, Human Resources & Administration is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all HR and administrative functions to support the company's business objectives. Reporting directly to the TBD, this role serves as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, shaping HR strategies that drive performance, compliance, and organizational success.
This position directs the development and implementation of policies and programs related to talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, employee relations, compliance, organizational development, training, and office administration. The Senior Director of Human Resources & Administration ensures that HR policies align with business needs and that employees are effectively supported in a way that enhances both engagement and productivity. As an experienced HR leader, the incumbent promotes National's mission, values, and business strategy in support of serving clients' expectations and long-term company profitability.
Essential Functions:
HR Strategy & Leadership
- Work as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, demonstrating critical thinking, a strong work ethic, and problem-solving and collaboration skills.
- Act as a role model for ethical behavior and decision-making projecting the highest levels of integrity.
- In conjunction with senior leadership, develop and execute HR strategies that align with business objectives and drive operational efficiency.
- Partner with senior leadership to provide HR guidance on workforce planning, succession planning, and organizational development.
- Lead change management initiatives to support business growth, restructuring, or strategic transformations.
- Ensure HR policies, procedures, and programs are aligned with company goals and industry best practices.
- Oversee HR support of client-related requests and industry-related surveys.
Talent Management & Employee Development
- Oversee all aspects of talent acquisition, ensuring efficient hiring processes and high-quality candidate selection.
- Implement employee training and development programs to enhance skills, leadership capabilities, and overall performance.
- Drive a high-performance culture through effective performance management strategies.
Compensation, Benefits, Compliance & Safety
- Maintain competitive compensation and benefits programs that attract and retain top talent.
- Oversee HR staff managing payroll services and related budgeting process through HRIS systems.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws, including wage and hour regulations.
- Partner with legal counsel and senior management to address risk management and related corporate insurance policies, policies enforcement, and regulatory compliance.
- Partner with IT to address physical safety and security of operations.
Employee Relations& Workplace Policies
- Act as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters, providing guidance on conflict resolution and policy interpretation.
- Investigate and resolve employee grievances, ensuring fairness and adherence to company policies.
- Support managers in addressing performance concerns and implementing improvement plans when necessary.
- Support the mission of serving as responsible stewards of client investments, which includes demonstrating a commitment to National's Sustainability Policy and best practices in daily business activities and decision-making.
HR Technology & Data Management
- Oversee HR Information Systems (HRIS) to improve efficiency, reporting, and workforce analytics.
- Implement HR metrics to track trends in hiring, retention, and employee engagement, supporting data-driven decision-making.
Administrative, Marketing & Operational Oversight
- Manage the Administration function of National including but not limited to the following: office operations, facilities, corporate vendor relationships, and HR and Administration department budgets.
- Ensure a well-functioning workplace, including oversight of confidential and privacy matters regarding all administrative and HR functions.
- Coordinate with marketing to execute HR lead engagement activities including Health and Wellness, Professional Development and general training initiatives.
- Participate and support IT and Compliance related training and Marketing lead engagement activities.
- Ensure business continuity planning for HR and administrative functions.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Consistently exhibit National's values, demonstrating leadership in an open, intelligent, collaborative and candid style translating strategy into action, and communicating with stakeholders internally and externally.
- Strict adherence to the terms and provisions as detailed in National's Employee Handbook.
- Complete compliance with National's Regulatory Compliance Manual, Code of Ethics and underlying compliance policies and procedures.
- Other duties as necessary
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master's preferred).
- 15+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Superior interpersonal communication, project management, and organization development skills are required.
- High attention to detail to ensure timely and accurate deliverables together with agility to improve organizational processes.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws, HR best practices, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven experience in talent management, employee relations, and HR operations.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and handle confidential information.
- Business acumen with the ability to align HR strategies with company goals.
- Experience managing HR systems and leveraging analytics for decision-making.
- Certifications (SPHR, SHRM-SCP) preferred.
Work Environment:
- Office-based role with minimal travel required.
- Requires the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced professional environment.
