Lilly's employee benefits team is responsible for the strategic design and delivery of employee benefit programs and services. We actively engage in the external marketplace to ensure we are bringing innovative thought leadership to the benefits we design and deliver and the experience we create for our employees, retirees and families. We coordinate with multiple partners internally including treasury, accounting, legal, privacy, and our technology partners. We are seeking a highly collaborative experienced employee benefits leader to drive Lilly's U.S. health and welfare benefit plan operations, reporting to the Vice President of U.S. Health and Welfare benefits. This position will supervise, coach and develop 1-2 health plan associate(s) who are responsible for aspects of health and welfare plan operations including compliance and financial management.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead, develop, and influence the relationships for Lilly's large network of health and welfare supplier partners to provide best-in-class delivery of services for Team Lilly. Contribute in supplier sourcing strategy and RFP activities.
- Provide strategic direction for health and welfare plan reporting and build capability to optimize health outcomes/ROI by using data analytics and AI.
- Manage financial outcomes ensuring accurate accounting and integrity of payments.
- Provide leadership oversight for annual health plan premium setting and inform strategy.
- Provide leadership of internal and external audit activities.
- Monitor the external marketplace and drive recommendations to ensure our benefits and service delivery experience remain innovative and best-in-class.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders including legal, privacy, finance, and external experts to ensure Lilly's programs remain compliant with all local, state and federal (DOL, IRS, HHS, ERISA) requirements.
- Ensure our health and welfare practices remain aligned with Lilly's privacy and security protocols.
- Enhance the employee experience through technology and enhanced communications.
- Deliver key initiatives and projects with care and excellence.
- Cultivate a learning culture that is bold, fast, and clear.
Basic Requirements- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, math, human resources, healthcare or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of direct experience leading health and welfare benefits for a large multi-state U.S. employer
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience

- Prior experience leveraging data analytics to drive health and financial outcomes
- Strong financial and analytical skills and the ability to navigate and communicate complex information
- Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize and act with speed to drive day-to-day problem solving
- Ability to educate and influence through excellent verbal and written communication
- Executive presence to represent Lilly in a highly professional manner externally
- Supervisory experience demonstrating effective coaching and development of people
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in highly integrated cross functional teams

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate's education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$150,000 - $220,000
Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
