STANDARD HOURS: 40 hours per week. Typical hours Monday - Friday 8:00 am -5:00 pm; Flexibility required to include other evening and/or weekend hours, as necessary.
SALARY RANGE: $153,401 - $165,333 per year
Salaries/Wages for all finalists (internal and external) will be placed within the range based upon education, experiences, current wages, and internal equity.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Director for Information and Instructional Technology (IIT), functioning in the industry role of Chief Information Officer (CIO), provides strategic leadership and oversight for all aspects of information technology and instructional technology within the College. This role is responsible for ensuring the alignment of IT and instructional technology strategies with the organization's educational mission, strategic plan, and operational needs. The Senior Director for IIT will be a key member of the College's Leadership Council and will be appointed to the President's Extended Cabinet.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership and Collaboration
- As a priority in the College's strategic plan, develop and execute a five-year information technology roadmap that supports the College's instructional vision, rural engagement, and operational needs.
- In collaboration with the Teaching and Learning Center, develop a Collegewide strategy to implement artificial intelligence tools and advanced instructional technologies.
- Collaborate with Institutional Research to advance the College's goals around data availability, consistency, governance, and transparency. Specifically, ensure that the appropriate data and security infrastructure is developed and maintained.
- Actively seek out, evaluate, and advise the College on emerging technologies that can improve the effectiveness and efficiency of educational and operational outcomes.
- Actively participate in Extended Cabinet conversations about Collegewide priorities and directions with the broad lens of the College's best interest and with specific expertise in IIT.
- Advance the strategic direction of the Finance and Administration Division and collaborate with the Division Leadership Team to support an integrated, consistent, and responsive infrastructure for College operations.
Technology Infrastructure & Operations
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of secure, scalable, and reliable IT infrastructure.
- Develop and oversee systems and policies to ensure that College hardware, software, and networks are functioning optimally, including disaster recovery and cybersecurity strategies.
- Mentor supervisors and managers to ensure that the day-to-day operations of IIT teams align with best practices in security, privacy, and compliance regulations.
- In collaboration with College Procurement and Distribution, oversee vendor selection, contract management, and performance monitoring for technology-related services.
Instructional Technology Leadership
- Collaborate with academic and instructional leadership to select, prioritize, and implement educational technologies that support teaching innovations.
- Provide thought partnership on the integration of instructional technologies with teaching, learning, and student outcomes.
- Champion a culture of innovation and continuous improvement across the organization through technology optimization and adoption.
Enterprise Application Management
- Mentor supervisors and managers to ensure the stable operation of core enterprise platforms.
- Provide insight and recommendations on the College's portfolio of solutions.
- Establish and lead transparent IT governance structures, including the development of policies and procedures that guide resource and project prioritization.
- Develop and oversee the annual IIT budget, ensuring effective resource allocation across IIT and instructional needs.
- Prepare budget requests and recommendations to support the College's priorities.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and lead initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Ensure that systems are in place to support the College's compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards related to IT security, data privacy, and accessibility.
- Develop and maintain cybersecurity policies and protocols to protect College assets and mitigate risks.
- Lead cybersecurity incident training exercises with the College's senior leadership as part of the College's incident response preparedness.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in related field.
- Minimum four years of full-time, senior-level experience leading institution-wide IT functions. With a Master's Degree, minimum two years of full-time, senior-level experience in a comparable role.
- Must hold a valid driver's license and be insurable under the District's standard insurance policy terms.
An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree preferred.
- Higher education industry experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience with Workday, Canvas, Microsoft 365, etc. preferred
