What does a successful Senior DevOps Software Engineer do at Fiserv?

Join a team that's shaping the future of payment technology. At Fiserv, we're building the critical software infrastructure that powers our payments platform, from CI/CD pipelines and Kubernetes deployment to identity access management and enterprise messaging. Our domain includes the CICD infrastructure for existing products, the next-gen CICD platform for K8S, Identity Access Management infrastructure for all application/microservice security, encryption services, Hashicorp Vault, and enterprise messaging platforms (AMQP/MQTT). If you have a strong background in application development and Kubernetes, and you're excited about driving innovation in secure, scalable payment solutions, we want to hear from you.

What you will do:
  • You help design, build, and support a new greenfield, Gitops-driven application delivery platform addressing the full spectrum of CICD automation needs for Kubernetes.
  • You manage and evolve our secrets infrastructure using HashiCorp Vault, making sure it's tightly integrated and secure.
  • You work hands-on with our IAM infrastructure-including Keycloak, PingOne, and Twilio-supporting deep customizations that meet real-world needs.
  • You build and maintain encryption microservices using Java and Spring Boot that encapsulate enterprise encryption assets into reliable, scalable services.
  • You automate the provisioning of messaging platforms that keep our event-driven architecture running smoothly.
  • You collaborate with a high-performing, supportive team to deliver mission-critical infrastructure in an Agile environment.
  • You collaborate using tools like GitLab, ArgoCD, Kargo, and Vault to streamline CICD pipelines and ensure a smooth developer experience.
  • You advocate for the needs of the developer community-building tools you actually use and believe in.
What you will need to have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience, education, or military background.
  • 6+ years of experience designing, developing, delivering, and supporting software applications.
  • 6+ years of experience with modern programming and scripting languages (Java/Spring Boot preferred).
  • 2+ years of DevOps experience including building and deploying containerized applications, ideally for Kubernetes (K8S).
  • Hands-on experience developing and supporting CI/CD infrastructure, automation, and monitoring.
  • Experience delivering and maintaining web-scale, high-availability, public-facing transactional applications.
  • Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools like Ansible or Terraform.
  • Strong ability to present and defend architectures, designs, and technologies to senior technical peers and leadership.
What would be great to have:
  • Strong application development background with Kubernetes experience.
  • Payments industry or fintech experience.
  • Experience delivering Java/Spring Boot/Linux applications.
  • Expertise in crafting and optimizing multi-environment Helm Charts.
  • Experience with creating CICD workflows with Gitlab, ArgoCD, Kargo.
  • Experience with Keycloak, PingOne, Twilio.
  • Deep understanding of OpenID Connect and functional understanding of SAML.
