Description The Digital Modernization Sector offers an exciting opportunity for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our Dynamic Solutions Team under the Global Solutions Management - Operations II contract at DISA. This role involves crucial support for the Operations, Sustainment, Maintenance, Repair, and Defense of the Defense Information System Network (DISN) across the DOD Information Network (DODIN) for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) while driving transformative innovation within DISA's operational mission.
This position is primarily remote; however, candidates must reside within commuting distance of Scott AFB, IL or Ft. Meade, MD for on-site support. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the Special Projects Innovations team, collaborating closely with software engineers and providing expert guidance in Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), DevOps practices, and Software Configuration Management to facilitate the rapid and automatic delivery of innovative solutions to our cloud-based environment.
Key Responsibilities: - Develop automated CI/CD pipelines utilizing Cloudbees/Jenkins, Artifactory, OpenShift/Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible, and Bitbucket.
- Lead software configuration management release planning, ensuring comprehensive support throughout the software product lifecycle.
- Oversee parallel software development and release cycles, managing SCM for extensive distributed development networks.
- Provide mentorship and training on CM processes to software engineering teams, ensuring consistency across all maintained configurations and interfaces.
- Create automated tests using tools such as Ansible, Selenium, JMeter, and Junit.
- Design, develop, document, test, and deploy software using Python, JavaScript, Java, and SQL.
- Manage deployment, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Kafka and Elastic clusters.
- Collaborate with an Agile team, participate in daily scrums, and present working software to ensure project goals are met.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system and installation issues promptly.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks proactively and independently.
Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in a related field with 12+ years of relevant experience.
- Active DoD Secret clearance.
- Must obtain Security+ certification or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT II certification within 14 days of starting.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to refine our DevOps architecture and provide high-level technical leadership.
- Extensive DevOps and SCM experience, with the capability to mentor and guide the team.
- Proficient in designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines within a Kubernetes environment.
- Experience in developing automation capabilities using Ansible or a similar tool.
- Demonstrated expertise in software configuration management, including branch and merge processes.
- Familiarity with cloud environments, especially AWS, is an advantage.
- Strong UNIX command line skills.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration within a virtual team.
Preferred Qualifications: - Background in software development and deployment within a DoD environment, with experience meeting DoD security standards.
- Experience with Atlassian tools (Bitbucket, JIRA, Confluence).
- Familiarity with static code analysis and integrating code review systems.
- Experience working remotely and as part of an Agile development team.
- Ability to commute to a DISA site as necessary.
