Description Summary:

The Release Coordinator/DevOps Engineer III is responsible for working closely with each software development team to coordinate, design, support, and automate software releases as part of the network infrastructure and software development lifecycle. The main goals of the Release Coordinator/DevOps Engineer should be the planning and coordination of software releases with the Development/Product teams; automate and streamline operations and processes; build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring and operations; and troubleshoot and resolve issues in our Development and Production environments.

Essential Duties:

The duties listed below are the essential functions of this position, and they may change as the needs of the company demand. All associates are expected to do what is necessary to get the work done and to cooperate fully with their supervisor's requests for additional or altered duties.
  • Planning and Coordination of software and application releases with the Development and Product Teams; including timelines and resource allocation to support the release process.
  • Promote Cross-Team Collaboration working closely with software developers, quality assurance teams, product managers, and other stakeholders to coordinate and align release objectives and strategies.
  • Quality Assurance to assist in the testing phase to ensure that the software meets quality standards and resolve any infrastructure or release pipeline issues that arise during testing.
  • Assist in managing the schedule for software releases, including major, minor, and patch releases and ensuring the release adheres to predetermined timelines.
  • Identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with software releases and preparing contingency plans if needed.
  • Compliance and Documentation of releases to ensure they comply with company guidelines, standards, processes, and procedures.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders about the release process, potential delays, and any issues that arise from the release process.
  • Continuously analyze and review the release process for inefficiencies or problems and adjust to improve future releases.
  • Assist in development of IAC (Infrastructure as Code) standards, guidelines, processes, and procedures and assist in promoting these standards across internal teams.
  • Create and build network designs to support business needs.
  • Maintain our networking environments by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting and enforcing system standards.
  • Collaborate across multiple teams to design robust automated testing release monitoring and environment provisioning mechanisms.
  • Support and supply tools for teams that will be releasing code to production potentially multiple times a day.
  • Protect data software and hardware by coordinating planning and implementing network security measures.
  • Troubleshoot diagnose and resolve hardware, software and other network and system problems.
  • Ensure network capacity and uptime by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages scheduling upgrades, and collaborating with the DevOps team on network optimization.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

Education/Training/Experience:
  • Release Coordinator/DevOps Engineers must possess broad and extensive knowledge of networking scripting and monitoring tools and periphery systems.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a directly related position required.
  • Completion of a Bachelors Degree is required. Strong preference for the completion of a major in IT, MIS or Computer Science; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have strong written and verbal skills in English and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Must be able to build and maintain positive business relationships with co-workers and other business contacts.
  • Proven track record in infrastructure automation: Ansible, Terraform, Chef, Puppet etc.
  • Proven track record implementing Continuous Integration/Deployment: Vagrant, Docker, Kubernetes etc.
  • Coding and Scripting skills: Bash JS PowerShell Python etc.
  • Experience working in a hybrid networking/software development environment.
  • Experience configuring and maintaining server/virtualization clustering (VMWare XenServer)
  • Experience with network security tools such as firewalls and IPS
  • Experience with network design and hands-on support of enterprise IP Networks: Practical experience managing routers switches firewalls and related networking technologies.
  • Extensive knowledge of both Windows and Linux OS environments
  • Knowledge of data center operations procedures and best practices.
  • Above-average analytical conceptual and troubleshooting abilities
  • Solid track record in prioritizing and executing tasks when under pressure
  • Proven experience identifying analyzing and resolving system problems
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform work on a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in the office regularly, or pivot to working at home should emergency situations arise.
  • Ability to attend work per assigned schedule and attend meetings with excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to bend and lift up to 25 lbs.
