This position serves our partners at Minnesota's largest state agency, the Department of Human Services (DHS). The MNIT DHS team supports complex and varied technical needs, including systems that provide health care coverage, deliver child protection and welfare services, and provide support for Minnesotans with special needs including mental illness, chemical dependencies, and physical or developmental disabilities.
As a Senior Developer, you will play a key role in understanding business challenges and delivering software solutions. Your responsibilities will include designing, developing, configuring, documenting, testing, and deploying applications that provide measurable business value. You will work within an Agile environment as part of a cross-functional team, staying current with new technologies and collaborating with various stakeholders such as team leads, architects, and business analysts to ensure that applications align with business requirements and design specifications. In this role, you will follow the MNIT Software Development Life Cycle and adhere to best practices, leveraging your expertise to address complex project elements. You will also contribute to code reviews, technical walkthroughs, and knowledge transfer activities, while mentoring and guiding less experienced developers.

: Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of IT related experience in application development.
Experience must include:
- Ability to manage extensive application development portfolio with multiple projects at various stages of design, development, implementation or production.
- Ability to mentor and lead other junior technical developers to design, build and implement technical solutions for various business needs.
- Knowledge of overall data processing hardware and software concepts.
- Thorough knowledge of methods and techniques of system analysis/design.
- Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience.
- Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding amongst all parties.
- Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.
A master's degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor's degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate's degree substitutes for one (1) year.
Preferred Qualifications - Knowledge of business continuation, disaster recovery.
- Experience in managing the Software Development Lifecycle of enterprise class systems including proper version control, communication, and task tracking.
- Experience with Oracle or SQL Server in application development of enterprise class databases.
- Experience developing and maintaining application programming interfaces (API's).
- Ability to organize, plan, monitor, and coordinate multiple and complex activities while operating within technical and business requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret detailed technical information.
- Knowledge of the Microsoft .NET Suite of development tools, and experience developing SAS Software.
