Design Engineer III will lead the design and development of new products, technologies, and manufacturing packages. This role involves research and development, industrialization of products, and providing technical support. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in mechanical or aerospace engineering, strong problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of manufacturing processes.
Some of the Responsibilities of the Design Engineer III include:- Develop product designs using solid modeling and CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
- Perform design calculations and apply engineering principles to develop innovative solutions.
- Organize technical data, write reports, and provide analyses with recommendations.
- Prepare equipment and material specifications to meet design and production requirements.
- Conduct research and feasibility studies to evaluate product performance and operational effectiveness.
- Utilize statistical methods, design of experiments, and systematic problem-solving techniques to optimize designs.
- Lead mechanical design projects, managing multiple assignments from concept to validation.
- Investigate equipment failures to diagnose issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Develop and test alternative designs and processing methods to improve product performance and efficiency.
- Specify system components and modify product designs to meet engineering and performance standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with customer specifications, industry regulations, and company policies.
- Read and interpret customer and industry specifications to ensure compliance.
- Support all company facilities in design, analysis, and testing for new and existing product lines.
- Design 3D parts and complex assemblies, selecting appropriate materials and applying GD&T principles.
- Utilize finite element analysis (FEA) to assess mechanical systems and optimize design solutions.
- Design and develop manufacturing methods, tooling, and processes to enhance production efficiency.
- Report any machine or process issues immediately and ensure compliance with safety guidelines.
- Assist in maintaining clean, orderly, and hazard-free work areas.
- Work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and attention to detail.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Some of the Requirements/Qualifications of the Design Engineer III include:- Expertise in statistical methods, design of experiments, and systematic problem-solving techniques.
- Ability to work with minimal oversight on high-priority projects, managing timelines and deliverables.
- Strong presentation skills, capable of effectively communicating findings internally and to customers.
- Experience leading multiple projects simultaneously in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Background in regulated industries and quality management systems (QMS).
- Understanding of aerospace and fastener industry standards and associated manufacturing processes.
Education and Experience:- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of FEA for non-linear solid mechanics.
- Experience with design of experiments, applied statistics, and systematic problem-solving (Greenbelt certification preferred).
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks preferred).
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in a related field, industry, or work environment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
