CTG is seeking to fill a Senior DataStax Cassandra Administrator opening for our client in Cincinnati, OH. Location: Cincinnati, OH
Duration: Ongoing Contract
Duties: - Install, configure, and maintain DataStax Cassandra (DSE) clusters in production, staging, and development environments.
- Monitor cluster performance and proactively address issues related to latency, throughput, and node health.
- Perform data backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Implement and manage security policies, authentication, and authorization in Cassandra environments.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks, including patching, upgrades, and performance tuning.
- Collaborate with application development teams to optimize data models, queries, and data access patterns.
- Plan and execute capacity planning and cluster expansion as needed.
- Automate operational tasks using scripts or tools (e.g., Ansible).
- Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation for production support, incident management, and root cause analysis.
- Maintain documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures.
Skills: - Deep expertise in administering and managing DataStax Cassandra (DSE) clusters.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, replication, and consistency models.
- Proficiency in Linux system administration and scripting (Bash, Python, etc.).
- Experience with automation and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet).
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or similar.
- Solid understanding of network protocols and troubleshooting.
Experience: - 5+ years of hands-on experience administering Cassandra databases, with at least 2 years using DataStax Enterprise.
- Proven experience in tuning Cassandra for performance, scalability, and high availability.
- Background in managing large-scale production environments.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices is a plus.
Education: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $50.00/hour to $120.00/hour. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefit package is also offered.
