The Leidos National Security Sector is seeking an experienced Senior Database Engineer / Oracle Database Administrator to join a high-performing agile team. You will play a critical role in a large, dynamic program utilizing the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology, along with Behavior Driven Development (BDD) and advanced test automation tools while adhering to best practices in DEVOPS.

Your contributions will support a complex system with stringent interface, performance, and security requirements. As the expert in database engineering, you will be involved in:
  • Designing and developing databases compliant with architectural requirements.
  • Performing comprehensive analysis and evaluating system optimizations and enhancements.
  • Supporting all phases of the database lifecycle including architecture, design, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Translating user requirements into efficient database architectures.
  • Contributing to capacity and performance planning documentation.
This role is available for candidates willing to work in our offices located in Annapolis Junction, MD; Alexandria, VA; San Diego, CA; or Aurora, CO. Some short-duration travel may be required to support quarterly Program Increment Planning sessions in MD.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide database engineering support for large-scale systems and geographically distributed components.
  • Collaborate with technical managers and team members in an Agile environment.
  • Implement rigorous database engineering practices.
  • Develop scripts and queries to manipulate data efficiently.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field and at least 8 years of relevant experience. Additional experience may substitute for degree qualifications.
  • Must hold a current TS/SCI Polygraph clearance.
  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator, including data migration, replication, performance tuning, and recovery.
  • Strong understanding of databases, particularly Oracle, PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
  • Experience with Oracle SQL/PLSQL and general SQL.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages including Bash/Linux Shell, JavaScript, Perl, and/or Python.
  • Familiarity with programming languages, especially Java.
  • A commitment to adhering to best practices in database management.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology.
  • Familiarity with Cassandra and MongoDB databases.

Pay Range: $104,650.00 - $189,175.00
