We are excited to announce an opening for a Senior Database Engineer/Oracle Database Administrator.

In this role, you will be part of a high-performing agile team following the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology. You will support a significant program utilizing Behavior Driven Development (BDD) and test automation tools, alongside robust collaboration tools. This position implements DEVOPS best practices and supports the execution of development, testing, integration, and operational tasks within a complex technical setting.

Your expertise in database engineering will be critical as you work with a multifaceted system that demands advanced interface, performance, and security specifications. You will engage in various database engineering activities including architecture, design, development, requirements analysis, data flow, network design/implementation, testing, and documentation. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Guiding large-scale database engineering initiatives within a complex distributed environment.
  • Collaborating with system and software integration engineers, test engineers, and information assurance engineers to ensure database practices align with project goals.
  • Participating in Agile Program Increment Planning sessions and related activities.
  • Implementing database designs, conducting analysis for system enhancements, and aiding in database development.
  • Supporting the development of both short-term and long-term database administration and design strategies.
  • Creating and optimizing database queries and structures that align with system architecture.
  • Preparing documentation for system architecture and configuration, including capacity and performance considerations.
The position is located in Annapolis Junction, MD, and some short-duration travel may be required to participate in quarterly PI Planning sessions in MD.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; additional experience can substitute for the degree.
  • Active TS/SCI Polygraph clearance is required.
  • Proficient in Database Administration with expertise in data migration, replication, user administration, backup, recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Strong understanding of Oracle databases and familiarity with other relational and non-relational databases like PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
  • Experience with SQL/PLSQL and familiarity with scripting languages such as JavaScript, Bash/Linux, Perl, or Python.
  • Working knowledge of programming in Java.
  • Commitment to adopting best practices in database engineering.
  • Effective planning and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and Agile team environments.
  • Experience with Cassandra and MongoDB.
The position offers a competitive salary range of $104,650.00 - $189,175.00 based on experience and qualifications.
