Senior Database Administrator to work in our
Quantico, VA office.

ECS is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Database Administrator to support a strategic laboratory program in support of our DOJ FBI Client. The scope of this program is to enhance enterprise services and solutions to this FBI component, as part of an integrated evaluation, integration, strategy, design, implementation, and operational maintenance program. This position is located in Quantico, VA.
This position is responsible for administering, troubleshooting, and maintaining databases. The ideal candidate will have experience in various database technologies and have a strong understanding of on-premises solutions such as SQL and Postgres and cloud-based platforms such as Azure and AWS. Additionally, the successful candidate will be an active contributor to our database operations and use technology to continuously improve the team's performance.
General Duties - Manage and monitor the performance and maintenance of on-premises SQL databases
- Manage and monitor Windows server failover clusters
- When required, manage and monitor the performance of cloud-based databases such as Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS.
- Support the deployment of new databases and schema objects as needed in the on-premises and cloud environment.
- Monitor and maintain databases to ensure stability and optimal performance.
- Manage databases for backup, restore, and replication processes.
- Ensure all databases are regularly backed-up and secure from unauthorized access.
- Ensure that databases are secure and adhere to industry standards.
- Provide support for database related issues and other requests from users.
- Troubleshoot database issues and take corrective measures to resolve them.
- Analyze and troubleshoot database issues and take necessary actions to resolve them.
- Monitor and optimize database performance.
- Generate reports to measure database performance, utilization, and growth.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure high availability and performance.
- Plan and implement database activities including upgrades and patching.
- US citizenship with active Top-Secret clearance
- Minimum of 8 years' experience recommended. In absence of years of experience, certifications or past work may be used to show the level of experience needed to perform at this level.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or additional 3 years of experience.
- Strong understanding of database architecture and design.
- Knowledge of database security and access controls.
- Advanced knowledge of SQL and database query languages.
- Expertise in troubleshooting, performance tuning, and query optimization.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience monitoring, performing updates, upgrades, testing, and other associated preventative maintenance and support functions related to Database Platforms
