Senior Database Administrator

Job Summary:

The purpose of this role is to ensure the integrity, performance, and security of our organization's databases. By managing and optimizing database systems, the senior DBA supports critical business operations, enabling data-driven decision-making and maintaining seamless access to vital information. This role is essential for safeguarding data assets and ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our IT Infrastructure.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Database Management and Maintenance - Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of database systems to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security.
  • Performance Tuning and Optimization - Monitor and analyze database performance, implementing necessary adjustments and optimizations to improve efficiency and response times
  • Technical Leadership and Best Practices - Provide technical leadership for database-related projects and architecture, ensuring adherence to industry best practices and organizational standards.
  • Backup, Recovery, and Security Management - Develop and manage backup and recovery plans, implement security policies, and conduct regular audits to safeguard data integrity and protect sensitive information.
  • Collaboration and Support - Work closely with IT teams, developers, and stakeholders to provide database-related support, troubleshoot issues, and ensure alignment with business objectives
Experience and Qualifications:
  • Extensive Database Administration Experience - Minimum of 7-10 years of hands-on experience managing and maintaining SQL Server databases in production and test environments. Previous experience in the insurance industry is a plus.
  • Cloud Database Management - Proven experience managing databases in cloud environments such as AWS and/or Azure, including familiarity with cloud-native database services (e.g., Amazon RDS, Azure SQL Database).
  • Performance Tuning and Optimization - Demonstrated expertise in database performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting to ensure high availability and efficiency.
  • Educational Background and Certifications - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Technical Leadership and Collaboration - Strong track record of providing technical leadership on database projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and mentoring junior DBAs. Excellent documentation and communication skills to effectively interact with developers, IT staff, and stakeholders.
