Senior Data Engineer will oversee data integration efforts including developing and maintaining data models, supporting cleaning and transformation of data prior to data persistence, and writing scripts for data analysis. This role will work as a member of the Data Modeling team and work collaboratively with members of the Data Operations and Data Metrics and Assessment teams to interpret operational requirements, perform data modeling and integrate data from a variety of sources and implement secure data pipelines for near-real-time ingest from a myriad of tactical and intelligence community data sources. A major responsibility is implementing and enforcing data modeling best practices and version controlling of software and configuration among development, integration, and production environments. Requirements: Experience with tools for data routing and transformation such as NiFi, Airflow, or dbt.
Strong in Java, Python, or SQL ETL/ELT data pipelines development supporting data-driven applications.
Proficient in scripting such as Linux shell, Python, Perl, Javascript, or similar scripting languages.
Proficient with data modeling conventions for both physical (ex: schemas) and logical data models (ex: UML). Experience with developing and maintaining data serialization tools such as Protobuf, Avro, JSON, and XML.
Familiar with data security fundamentals such as encryption, pedigree, and provenance to ensure compliance of policy, processes, and procedures.
Experience with source code management tools including git via GitHub, GitLab, or BitBucket.
Experience with drafting and maintenance of technical documentation
Experience with RDBMS (ex: Oracle, Postgres, MySQL) and non-SQL DBs (ex: HBase, Accumulo, MongoDB, Neo4J) methodologies
Familiarity with Cloud technologies such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
Experience working in a classified environment on operational networks such as SIPR or JWICS
Desired:
Experience with Intelligence and C2 data sets including, but not limited to Link16, JREAP-C, SIGINT, MASINT, and GEOINT
Familiarity with DoD Architectural framework. Huge plus for experience with contributions to maintaining systems engineering artifacts adhering to DoDAF.
Experience with cross domain methodologies
Familiarity with horizontally-scalable frameworks such as Hadoop, Docker, Kubernetes and Kafka
Tools:

Operating Systems: Windows, Linux (RedHat)
Must haves:
B.A. or B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.
Requires 5-10 years of experience with implementation and understanding of Network Engineering principles in a professional environment. Requires 5-10 years of experience in the development, implementation, and maintenance of network architectures.
Candidates must have an active TS SCI clearance. Additional eligibility requirements for access to other levels of classified information is required (U.S. Citizenship is required)
Ability to use a personal computer, keyboard, and mouse on a consistent basis
Full-time, on-site at government facility
Occasional travel by automobile or airplane up to 10% of the year
Comms:
Operates standard computer-based business tools (including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel) effectively.
