Job Description

DTE Energy is seeking a Senior level Data Scientist to join one the Analytics team. This person can be based out of Michigan, or they can work remotely anywhere in the U.S only. This individual will be involved in analytical modeling and working on predictive models for the system cable groups.

Key Responsibilities:

Predictive Analytics & Modeling: Develop and deploy machine learning models to forecast peak energy demand, outage risks, and renewable energy generation.

Grid Modernization & Reliability: Analyze large-scale energy grid data to identify trends, optimize infrastructure investments, and improve outage response times.

Energy Storage & Renewable Integration: Support DTEs 450 MW energy storage expansion by building data models that optimize battery deployment and performance.

Customer Energy Efficiency Programs: Utilize customer energy usage data to develop personalized energy savings recommendations and assess program impact.

Big Data & Cloud Computing: Work with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud to manage and analyze massive datasets related to energy consumption and distribution.

Collaboration & Strategy Alignment: Work closely with engineering, operations, and business leaders to translate complex data insights into actionable strategies.

Compensation:

$66/hr to $68/hr

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Skills and Requirements

- Education: Bachelors degree in computer science, Mathematical, or STEM related

- Experience: 5-7 years minimum in a Data scientist position or a combo of Data Scientist + Data Engineer
  • Proficient knowledge with Mathematical - Statistical Analysis, Dimensional Reduction, Single-Sided Vector.
- Tools/Technologies: Python

- Soft Skills: Must be able to have very strong communication skills as this person will be collaborating with other teams frequently - Masters or PHD in Computer Science or STEM related field

- SQL, Java, MATLAB, Databricks, Microsoft Azure, Github.
