Senior Data Scientist - (Remote)

Location: Remote (Company Headquarters: Chicago, IL)

Salary Range: $140,000 - $160,000 per year

Position Overview: We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist with expertise in Marketing Mix Modeling (MMM) to develop sophisticated econometric models that assess the impact of public relations (PR) messaging on financial outcomes. This fully remote role offers the flexibility to work from anywhere, providing an excellent opportunity for a skilled data scientist passionate about leveraging analytics to influence real-world business decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Model Development & Implementation:
    • Design and implement advanced econometric models to quantify the effects of PR campaigns on financial metrics.
    • Integrate diverse datasets, including social media metrics, news articles, campaign messaging, and financial indicators, to enhance model accuracy.
    • Collaborate with internal analytics teams to ensure robust data handling and model calibration.
  • Data Analysis & Validation:
    • Utilize historical PR and financial data to validate and refine predictive models.
    • Conduct exploratory data analysis to uncover insights and improve model performance.
    • Maintain rigorous methodological standards to ensure reproducibility and accuracy.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Communication:
    • Work cross-functionally with analytics, account management, and client-facing teams to gather requirements and implement solutions.
    • Translate complex analytical insights into clear, actionable recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Documentation & Training:
    • Develop comprehensive technical documentation outlining methodologies, data sources, assumptions, and limitations.
    • Create user-friendly guides to support the ongoing use and maintenance of models.
    • Lead training sessions to facilitate knowledge transfer within internal teams.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay abreast of advancements in econometric modeling, machine learning, and marketing mix modeling techniques.
    • Explore and implement process improvements, new data sources, and advanced modeling strategies to enhance scalability and predictive accuracy.
Qualifications:
  • Education & Experience:
    • Master's or Ph.D. in Economics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field (or equivalent professional experience).
    • 3+ years of hands-on experience in econometrics, marketing mix modeling, or quantitative modeling.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Python (preferred) or R for data manipulation, statistical analysis, and model development.
    • Experience with Bayesian modeling and relevant packages (e.g., PyMC, STAN, Pyro).
    • Strong background in marketing analytics and marketing mix modeling (MMM); familiarity with tools such as Lightweight MMM, Meridian, or Robyn is a plus.
    • Expertise in statistical modeling, regression techniques, time-series analysis, and causal inference.
    • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., matplotlib, seaborn).
  • Soft Skills & Additional Qualifications:
    • Exceptional communication skills-able to translate complex data insights into business impact.
    • Proven ability to work in cross-functional environments and manage multiple projects effectively.
    • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
    • Experience in (or willingness to learn about) public relations, corporate communications, and financial metrics in a business context.
