Security Benefit is looking for a Senior Data Engineer for our Derivatives Team. SB associates are working on a hybrid schedule, which involves both remote and on-site work. This position will be based in our home office in Topeka or Overland Park, Kansas, or Des Moines, Iowa.

What Does Job Look Like? This position is responsible for creating, maintaining, and integrating multiple applications in Derivatives. These include AWS Cloud / DevOps, SQL Databases, Bloomberg, and Data warehouses. These applications have an impact across all Security Benefit Derivatives departments.
- Design and develop scalable, high-performance data architectures on the cloud data platform to meet evolving business needs and data growth.
- Create the blueprint for how data is collected, stored, processed, and used, ensuring it's accessible, reliable, and secure
- Guide in adopting best practices in data warehouse architecture and modeling.
- Develop and maintain documentation of the data architecture, data flow, and data models within the data warehouse, tailored for various audiences.
- Design end-to-end data integration architectures, considering data sources, data transformation, data mapping, and data delivery to meet business objectives
- Understand the Change management guidelines and ensure that appropriate controls are implemented and followed.
- Coordinate with multiple technology teams such as Network, Security, and Architecture in an Agile environment
- Design the structure and systems that enable the Derivatives team to manage and utilize its data effectively, ensuring it's a valuable asset for informed decision-making and business operations.
- Optimize data storage, data retrieval, and query performance to ensure the efficient processing of large-scale datasets.
- Create and maintain documentation for database architecture, procedures, and standards.
- Other projects assigned to enhance further and automate the Derivatives Systems and operations
Who Are You? - Bachelor's degree in computer science, Business Information Systems, or related field preferred
- 4+ years of Programming experience in C or Python
- 4+ Years Required Experience as years of direct experience in cloud data solution architectures like Snowflake or RedShift or Hadoop
- 4+ years in cloud environments like AWS or Azure or GCP
- Develop end-to-end design of data and analytics solutions by translating business requirements into technical specifications
- Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code and automation tools (Terraform) for database deployment and management
- Has experience designing solutions leveraging a diverse assortment of data sources, formats, and architectural patterns, including batch, streaming, and transactional
- Understanding of data governance, data dictionaries, data security, and Master Data Management
- Implement solutions for data warehousing, data lakes, and data marts.
- Optimize Database performance through proper configuration and query tuning.
- Manage data storage and computing resources to balance cost and performance.
- Proficiency in SQL and other data querying languages and any cloud platform
