Job Description: We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to support the Finance/Accounting department in the design, build, and maintenance of scalable cloud-native data pipelines for financial data. You will be responsible for developing and/or maintaining optimized ELT workflows to extract, transform, and load various data sources. You will be responsible for ensuring data integrity from integration pipelines, to support processing of accurate and complete accounting transactions, analytics and financial reporting.
This role is ideal for someone with strong technical expertise in modern data engineering practices, a passion for cloud technologies, and a desire to work on scalable, high-impact data solutions.
Responsibilities: - Implement and maintain data pipelines and automated data solutions using DBT Cloud, Python, and Airflow.
- Develop data transformations and ensure data quality across all pipelines.
- Own and manage projects from design to production, maintain relationship with stakeholders and collaborate with both Accounting/Finance and technical teams to satisfy business needs.
- Write, maintain and optimize scripts, processes and jobs that will be used by accounting and for reporting solutions.
- Build, manage and optimize scalable ETL pipelines using multiple sources apply transformation as per business needs and load data into data warehouses.
- Design and refine data models by following best practices and techniques using most effective approaches for accounting processes, reporting and analytics such as star schema.
- Examples of accounting processes supported are revenue/cash journal entries and mapping, incentive calculations, and payment transactions.
- Support / Monitor daily and monthly financial close system processes and reconciliations.
- Implement best practices for data security, governance, and compliance.
- Work closely with Accounting, Finance, and Technology teams to build and support accounting processes, financial reporting and analytics needs.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and propose innovative solutions to improve data processing efficiency for SQL and data warehouse.
- Stay up to date with the latest data engineering trends and cloud technologies.
- Collaborate with internal controls and external auditor teams as needed to ensure that data solutions are compliant with internal controls requirements and best practices.
Requirements: - 4+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field.
- SQL and Python programming skills and very good understanding of relational databases (SQL Server, MySQL, etc.)
- Data warehousing experience, good understanding of data modeling, dimensional modeling, working experience with large scale data.
- Good understanding of open-source distributed systems technologies such as Kafka, Spark
- Experience in scalable ETL and data pipelines and tools such as (SSIS, Informatica, Airflow, Luigi or similar)
- Experience with Reporting and data visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau, Looker, Dash, or similar)
- Proficient in data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
Preferred Skills: - Understanding principles and financial reporting is nice to have but not a necessity.
- Knowledge of data observability and monitoring tools.
- Google Cloud Certified Data Professional
Annual Salary Range: $115,000-$140,000/year, with a generous benefits package that includes paid time off, health, dental, vision, and 401(k) savings plan with match.
