As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in leading a significant transformation within our organization.

The Enterprise Platforms Technology (EPTech) team encompasses many of Capital One's key enterprise platforms. We are dedicated to establishing best practices for creating technology solutions that enhance our company's capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design, development, testing, implementation, and support of comprehensive technical solutions across Agile teams.
  • Guide a team of developers experienced in machine learning, distributed microservices, and full-stack systems.
  • Utilize a variety of programming languages, including Java, Scala, and Python, along with open-source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, as well as cloud-based data warehousing services like Redshift and Snowflake.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning by staying updated on tech trends, engaging in new technology experiments, and mentoring fellow engineering team members.
  • Work collaboratively with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions that empower millions of Americans in their financial journeys.
  • Conduct unit tests and code reviews to ensure your code is rigorously designed, elegantly implemented, and optimally tuned for performance.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in application development (Internship experience not applicable).
  • At least 2 years of experience in big data technologies.
  • A year of experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of experience in application development, including Python, SQL, Scala, or Java.
  • 4+ years of experience with a public cloud (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Experience with distributed data/computing tools (MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, EMR, Kafka, Spark, Gurobi, or MySQL) for at least 4 years.
  • 4+ years of experience working on real-time data and streaming applications.
  • 4+ years of NoSQL implementation experience (MongoDB, Cassandra).
  • 4+ years of data warehousing experience (Redshift or Snowflake).
  • 4+ years of experience with UNIX/Linux, including basic command usage and shell scripting.
  • 2+ years of experience applying Agile engineering practices.
This position is not eligible for sponsorship of new employment authorization. The salaries for this role range from $175,800 to $200,700 annually for full-time positions located in Plano, TX.
