We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer, preferably with experience in finance and/or real estate. The candidate should have 7+ years of experience managing large-scale interactive projects from discovery and design to technical development and implementation. The candidate must be attuned to value the details as well as be able to understand and drive towards the big picture. Analytical and quick thinking in a fast-paced environment is essential.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:- Architect & Build - Provide strategic direction and technical oversight for a significant greenfield initiative focused on rebuilding and modernizing our data warehouse infrastructure.
- Lead & Mentor - Serve as a mentor to a team of engaged and curious engineers, actively guiding and leveling up the team's technical skills and capabilities.
- Solve Problems - Address complex data engineering challenges proactively, applying innovative solutions that enhance performance, resilience, and scalability.
- Collaborate - Participate actively in agile practices, contributing within cross-functional squads that dynamically address evolving data engineering needs across the organization.
- Secure - Ensure rigorous adherence to best practices in data governance, security, compliance, and information integrity.
- Engage - Collaborate closely with internal teams and stakeholders to facilitate the successful adoption and understanding of data initiatives and solutions.
Experience, Skills, and Abilities Required:- 7+ years of experience in software or data engineering or related fields.
- Demonstrated capability in leading the architectural design and implementation of large-scale data warehouse systems using as-code orchestration frameworks like Airflow or Dagster.
- A deep passion for technical mentorship and knowledge sharing.
- Experience with REST APIs, GraphQL / OData and Event-Driven Architecture.
- Expertise in SQL with modern data warehousing solutions (e.g., Fabric, Snowflake, Databricks).
- Proficiency in Python and open source data processing tools (Spark, Parquet, dbt, etc.).
- Comfortable building scalable cloud-native systems using containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.).
- Familiarity with essential DevOps practices, including version control, automated CI/CD, etc.
- Familiarity with analytics, business intelligence tools, or data visualization platforms is a plus.

Greystone offers a competitive base salary and bonus. The base salary range for this position is $150,000 to $200,000/year. The specific compensation that will be offered is based on an understanding of the hired candidates' qualifications at the time of hire. Employees are eligible for a discretionary bonus based on employee work performance reviewed during the annual review process.
The firm is the overall HUD multifamily and healthcare lender by firm commitments and a top 10 Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac multifamily real estate lender.
For HUD's 2024 fiscal year ending September 30, 2024. Based upon combined firm commitments received by Greystone Funding Company LLC and Greystone Servicing Company LLC and excludes risk sharing and hospital loans.
