Senior Data Engineer/ETL Test Engineer

Primary Skills: SQL (Expert), Python/Scala (Advanced), ETL Testing (Expert), Data Warehousing (Advanced), Automation Frameworks (Advanced) Contract Type: W2 Duration: 12 Months with possible extension Location: (Seattle/Santa Monica/New York), 4 days onsite Pay Range: $80 to $85 per hour on W2 Job Summary: As a Senior Data Engineer/ETL Test Engineer, you will lead the charge in ensuring the highest quality of our ETL processes and data pipelines, facilitating a data-driven approach to business intelligence. You will collaborate closely with Data Analysts, Product, and Engineering teams to refine quality processes for operational data delivery. Your role will encompass translating complex technical specifications into testable requirements, building reusable tests to enhance development speed while mentoring the team on automation best practices. Key Responsibilities: Validate ETL logic and Data Pipelines to ensure robust data quality. Partner with cross-functional teams to understand system behavior and business use cases. Convert technical specifications into detailed test requirements. Develop automated and reusable tests for essential data stores. Diagnose issues, report defects, and enhance regression testing to prevent recurring issues. Must-Have Skills: Proficient in SQL and familiar with a variety of databases. Strong experience in data warehousing, data modeling, and big data technologies. Hands-on programming or scripting experience (Preferably Python). Industry Experience: Experience with large datasets and familiarity with big data tools & technologies such as Airflow, Hive, Snowflake, Databricks, Spark etc., is essential for this role. A background in quality assurance within data engineering or data analytics domains is highly desirable. This position prefers candidates to be based on the West Coast (Seattle/Santa Monica/New York), with a strong preference for those who can work in-office to facilitate closer team collaboration.
