Overview Senior Data Engineer 4 C5ISR Location: Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD Clearance: Active Top-secret The Senior Engineer 4 provides strategic, technical, and programmatic advice concerning ways in which emerging capabilities in high performance scientific and visual modeling for the United States Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) Analysis Center (DAC). DEVCOM/DAC is the Army's focal point for data analysis and Modeling and Simulation (M&S) from component to force-on-force level models for the Army's Future Force Modernization Enterprise (FFME). Responsibilities Conducts analysis of engineering structures, materials, and adaptability to develop plans and objectives to perform a broad range of weapon/materiel and/ or logistics analyses; or warfare analyses (to include the development of models and simulations) for difficult-to-define, controversial, new or novel systems/functions in support of the DEVCOM DAC.
Establishes priority target dates, resources, and requirements to implement the technical portion of projects and insures their timely integration with overall program.
Conceives new concepts and approaches to resolve engineering problems
Conduct analytical investigations, modeling and simulations, and laboratory and field experiments to support the Army's overmatch in a contested and congested electromagnetic spectrum.
Specific tasks to be completed include, but are not limited to:
Using domain knowledge of U.S. Army Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C5ISR) systems, design experiments and field tests; develop technical metrics and evaluation measures (e.g., message completion rate, throughput, speed of service/latency, etc.); ensure data elements necessary to address evaluation metrics can be collected; and use experimental design techniques to ensure proper sample size and test factor combinations.
Provide onsite asset configuration, data collection, data reduction, and analysis; verify instrumentation status; run quality assurance/control checks on collected data; and reduce raw data into useable analysis formats.
Conduct threat analyses with data collected from lab and field-based events; provide detailed analyses to show system performance in both benign and threat-based environments; translate test results into real-world impacts and threat avoidance/detection scenarios; and provide holistic analyses that span multiple field test events and incorporate lab-based results.
Develop and augment existing data reduction tools; create web-based interfaces that provide data quality checks and quick-look analyses of systems; develop databases of laboratory and field data; and enhance modeling and simulation tools that predict/simulate terrain, electromagnetic environment, and the impact of electronic warfare on wireless network performance.
Coordinate with vendors and program managers to obtain communication and sensor systems; provide baseline assessments of system performance in a benign environment; develop multiple threats with different operational characteristics; and test systems against threats while collecting performance metrics.
Provide input/guidance and subject matter expertise to help steer and improve methods of analysis and radio frequency laboratory investigations and assist with formulating proposals for the introduction of advanced techniques for anomalous detection of radio network behaviors/operations. Qualifications Required: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, System or Mechanical Engineering or related field with 10 years' experience.
Possess a knowledge of basic principles, theories, and methods with respect to mathematics, statistics, logic, econometrics, modeling and simulation, and computers.
