The Leidos Digital Modernization Sector is in search of a seasoned Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to support the Department of the Navy at the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic through its Cybersecurity Service Provider (CSSP) program. In this pivotal role, you will provide comprehensive cybersecurity expertise across various domains such as Incident Response, Incident Coordination, Cyber Hunt, Digital Forensics, Insider Threat, Continuous Monitoring, Vulnerability Assessment, Cybersecurity Tool Development, and much more.

NIWC Atlantic is instrumental in delivering critical C4ISR capabilities to the Department of Defense (DoD), Joint, Coalition, Non-DoD, and other Federal agencies, with a strong focus on Defensive Cyberspace Operations (DCO). As a key player in the team, you will be involved in both classified and unclassified network monitoring services. Our CSSP collaborates with industry, academia, DoD, non-DoD, and other Federal entities to innovate and create cutting-edge applications, platforms, and processes for DCO.

The CSSP offers five foundational services: Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond, and Recover. As a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer, you will maintain the highest standards of cybersecurity defense for over 600 subscribers, ensuring excellence in security, innovation, and collaboration across diverse platforms.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead and Mentor Team: Inspire and guide a team of cybersecurity professionals, championing best practices and fostering continuous growth in cyber initiatives and professional development.
  • Policy Development and Compliance: Create, implement, and uphold robust cybersecurity policies, ensuring compliance with DoD 8570.1M and DoD 8140 standards.
  • Assessment and Authorization (A&A) Leadership: Oversee the A&A processes, guiding the team through essential stages and managing deliverables for compliance and security.
  • System Security and Reporting: Manage systems to align with security requirements, routinely reporting the security posture to Government officials to ensure transparency and adherence to regulations.
  • Cybersecurity Planning and Implementation: Spearhead the planning, execution, and enhancement of cybersecurity measures to reinforce defense capabilities and maintain a secure network infrastructure.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Carry out comprehensive risk assessments, identify vulnerabilities, and devise and implement strategies to minimize cybersecurity risks.
  • Security Control Oversight: Consistently monitor and assess security controls, ensuring effective safeguards are in place to protect digital assets and critical infrastructure.
  • Incident Response and Reporting: Investigate, analyze, and respond to cybersecurity incidents, executing corrective actions and generating detailed reports in line with DoD guidelines.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Active Security Clearance: Must hold a current TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field, along with at least 12 years of relevant experience. Additional applicable experience may substitute for a bachelor's degree.
  • Certification(s): At a minimum, candidates should meet DoD 8570 IAT Level III (or equivalent/higher) certification requirements such as CISA, GSE, SCNA, CISSP (or Associate), GCIH, GLSC, or CISM.
  • Experience: A minimum of 12 years of extensive experience in developing, implementing, and overseeing cybersecurity policies, emphasizing compliance with industry standards, including Assessment and Authorization (A&A) requirements.
  • Expertise in assessing cybersecurity vulnerabilities, identifying risks, and proposing and executing remediation strategies or risk mitigation actions.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in implementing and maintaining security controls to protect digital assets and electronic infrastructure.
  • Proven record of responding to cybersecurity incidents, restoring security measures, and preparing detailed reports according to DoD protocols and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Cybersecurity or Computer Science.

Pay Range: Pay Range $126,100.00 - $227,950.00
