About the Role

The Company is seeking a Senior Counsel with a strong background in data governance, privacy, cybersecurity, and emerging artificial intelligence issues. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic legal advice to address the company's data risk management and innovation priorities. This role requires expertise in US, Canada, and LA-relevant privacy, cybersecurity, and AI laws, with a particular focus on HIPAA and state-relevant healthcare privacy laws. The Senior Counsel will advise on complex legal, regulatory, and policy matters, draft and negotiate various contracts, and assess and mitigate harms associated with privacy and cybersecurity incidents. Strong analytical, prioritization, and project management skills are essential, as is the ability to deliver business-oriented, pragmatic legal services in a fast-paced, changing technology environment. Applicants for this role at the company should have a minimum of 5-7 years' of experience as a lawyer, with a focus on privacy, data governance, and cybersecurity. A graduate of an accredited law school and admitted to a US state bar, the ideal candidate will have a background in healthcare-related legal work and experience in a multi-national company. The role demands a professional with the ability to manage competing projects, provide strategic insights, and demonstrate strong decision-making and communication skills. Familiarity with a variety of privacy, cybersecurity, and AI laws and regulations, as well as the ability to manage outside counsel and liaise with experts, is required. The candidate should also possess one or more relevant certifications and have a proven track record of advising and presenting to all levels of management.
