Job Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our dynamic accounting team at a leading multi-strategy investment firm. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting the firm's financial strategy. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams to help drive the growth of our portfolio companies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain financial statements in accordance with GAAP for both internal and external reporting.
  • Oversee the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all financial transactions.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and perform variance analysis on key financial metrics.
  • Assist with the preparation of tax filings for venture capital funds and portfolio companies.
  • Support the preparation of financial reports for investors, including performance tracking and capital call distributions.
  • Review and analyze financial data, identifying trends and variances, and providing actionable insights.
  • Coordinate with external auditors to ensure successful audits and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in managing fund allocations and cash flow management for portfolio companies.
  • Ensure compliance with venture capital fund agreements and industry-specific regulations.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff and assist with their professional development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a venture capital, private equity, or related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting principles.
  • Experience with venture capital fund accounting and tax filings is a plus.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (eg, QuickBooks, NetSuite) and MS Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams, portfolio companies, and external stakeholders.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with venture capital fund structures and investments.
  • Familiarity with tax considerations for venture-backed companies.
  • Knowledge of financial modeling and forecasting.
