Worksite Address: 2575 N Dragoon St, Tucson, AZ 85745 MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: - Responsible for the electrical engineering and software design of control systems on automation equipment specific to customer and project requirements; - Designs and develops control systems and software programs specific to customer and project requirements based on standard programming methods when applicable; - Develops, writes, debugs, and commissions software programs at during systems integration phase and then at the customer's site during installation; - Presents designs during internal and Customer project reviews; - Performs engineering calculations with respect to power consumption, current capacity, shielding, signal integrity, risk assessment, etc., as related to automation machinery designs; - Formulates and produces a complete electrical design package which includes detailed schematics, cable routing diagrams, panel layouts, and bills of materials, based on standard specifications and the customer's requirements; - Selects and integrates hardware and software components such as robots, grippers, load cells, motion controllers, sensors, vision systems and lasers; - Gives technical direction to Machine Builders and Electrical Technicians as needed; and - Consults regularly with Project Managers to report status, raise issues, take direction, and assist where able. QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor's degree in Controls Systems Design, Control and Automation Engineering, or Software Engineering, or foreign equivalent; - 3 years of experience writing software and/or electrical design for automation systems; - 3 years of experience with troubleshooting automation equipment, specifically the software for such and the control hardware. This includes troubleshooting of the equipments ability to meet the written machine specifications; - 3 years of experience developing system electrical schematics; - 3 years of experience in and advanced understanding with ALL of the following programming environments: PLC ladder logic, robotic controllers, vision systems, and HMI design tools; - 3 years of experience successfully functioning as a Controls Design Engineer on multiple automation projects; and - 3 years of experience in and advanced understanding with robotics, control systems, vision systems, and machine operation. TRAVEL REQUIRED: Less than 5% time of travels required to customer and supplier sites to perform installation, commissioning, and training tasks.
