The
Sr Automation and Controls Engineer for Cytiva is responsible for leading projects that impact our core value drivers, e.g. product quality, on-time delivery and operating margin, via automation and digitalization of manufacturing operations.
This position is part of the Manufacturing Technology team located in Pensacola, FL, and will be an on-site role. At Cytiva, our vision is to advance future therapeutics from discovery to delivery.
What you'll do:- Engage with associates at gemba to understand their problems, identify opportunities for improvements to our manufacturing value streams and develop new automation and digitalization solutions that impact our core value drivers.
- Define and deploy a global technology roadmap that describes the transformation of our manufacturing operations to a more automated and digitalized future state.
- Build business cases that justify investments in new automation and digitalization technologies, then plan and execute projects to implement these including their development and validation.
- Support immediate improvements in manufacturing with your automation and controls expertise e.g. specify, acquire and commission equipment to expand production capacity and upgrade obsolete systems to improve equipment availability.
- Lead actions to standardize technologies across the business, including definition and deployment of global standards for automation platforms, system architectures and software applications.
Who you are:- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or in "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) or equivalent.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in relevant engineering roles, i.e. controls and automation, and in an industrial environment. Must be confident and capable of working with machinery in a manufacturing plant.
- Extensive and practical "hands-on" experience in the development and implementation of controls and automation for manufacturing equipment and processes e.g. PLC, HMI, SCADA.
- Expert knowledge of current and emerging technologies in automation and digitalization with deep understanding of how these can be applied to manufacturing processes.
- Skilled in visual and daily management, demonstrated via successful leadership of multi-functional projects and the coordination of own work plus that of others including contracted third parties.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:- Manufacturing for biotechnology, pharmaceutical or similar regulated industry. Knowledge of GMP would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of procedures associated with the management of change in a regulated environment and, specifically, validation of manufacturing methods and equipment.
