Palmer Hamilton, LLC is seeking a strategic and hands-on Senior Controller to lead our Finance and Accounting functions. Based in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, Palmer Hamilton is a dynamic, design-forward manufacturing company generating annual revenues of $50M-$100M, with a strong presence in the K-12, makerspace, and OEM markets.
This is a critical leadership role for an experienced financial professional ready to guide financial operations, enhance internal controls, and support organizational growth. As Senior Controller, you will serve as a key advisor to the CEO and leadership team-ensuring financial integrity, operational efficiency, and informed decision-making across the organization.
What You'll DoFinancial Strategy & Leadership- Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with business objectives and growth targets.
- Provide financial insight and recommendations to the CEO and leadership team on budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning.
- Lead the development and monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs) that support strategic decision-making.
Financial Reporting & Compliance- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Coordinate the annual audit process with external auditors and maintain strong regulatory compliance.
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for leadership and key stakeholders.
Operational Excellence- Manage cash flow, working capital, and treasury functions to support healthy business operations.
- Oversee and improve financial systems and internal processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Leverage strong cost accounting expertise-including bills of materials and manufacturing cost structures-to improve margins and identify savings opportunities.
Risk Management & Controls- Strengthen internal controls and risk management practices across finance and operations.
- Stay current on financial regulations and ensure compliance with tax, legal, and reporting requirements.
- Lead or support internal and external audit processes, ensuring timely resolution of any findings.
Team & Cross-Functional Collaboration- Lead and develop a high-performing Finance and Accounting team.
- Partner closely with cross-functional leaders to align financial systems, controls, and goals across the business.
- Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement.
What We're Looking For- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred.
- Experience: 7-10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, with at least 3-5 years in a senior accounting or controller role in a manufacturing environment.
- Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of GAAP, tax regulations, and cost accounting. Experience with ERP systems such as Microsoft Business Central is highly desirable.
- Leadership Style: Collaborative, detail-oriented, and driven by continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Strategic Thinking: Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis that supports long-term business planning.
