Position Overview: We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Configuration Analyst Principal to join our talented team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing product changes and assessing effects on overall systems, while documenting and tracking all aspects of system development. You will ensure configuration identification, review and approve design documents, and maintain databases.

Work is performed on site in Norfolk, VA and Virginia Beach, VA.

This position is contingent upon award news Spring of 2026.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design product changes and the effects of the overall system.
  • Assist in documenting and tracking all aspects of system development and modifications.
  • Ensure configuration identification by reviewing design release documents for completeness and proper authorizations.
  • Prepare deviations and waivers for government approval when specifications cannot be met.
  • Review all issued document change requests, document change notices and associated drawings for accuracy, completeness and proper signatures.
  • May structure and maintain databases.
  • Submit engineering changes to customers for review and approval; maintain records and submit reports regarding status.
  • Prepare configuration verification audit record sheets for all programs.
  • Identify, classify, and document all critical configuration items across diverse IT systems, including hardware, software, network components, and applications, while maintaining accurate relationships between them.
  • Assist in change control process; ensure controlled and documented updates to configurations.
  • Perform comprehensive configuration audits to verify system compliance with established standards and policies, identifying potential vulnerabilities and non-compliance issues, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Utilize configuration management tools to analyze configuration data, identifying trends, patterns, and potential risks, and leveraging insights to improve system performance and reliability.
  • Implement automation tools to streamline configuration management tasks, including automated configuration deployments, change synchronization, and reporting, integrating with other IT management systems.
  • Implement security-focused configuration management practices to mitigate vulnerabilities and maintain compliance with security regulations.
  • Integrate configuration management practices seamlessly into DevOps pipelines to enable continuous delivery and deployment.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's level degree and ten (10) years professional experience in configuration management.
  • Strong understanding of various IT infrastructure technologies, including operating systems, network devices, databases, cloud platforms, and scripting languages to effectively manage configurations across diverse environments.
  • Collaborate closely with development teams, system administrators, security teams, and other stakeholders to ensure configuration management practices are aligned with overall IT goals and business requirements.
  • Ability to diagnose configuration-related issues, identify root causes, and implementing solutions to maintain system stability and performance.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior team members on best practices in configuration management, including tool usage and process adherence.
  • Expertise in utilizing complex configuration management tools like Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or SaltStack to manage large-scale infrastructure configurations.
  • Ability to manage configurations across cloud environments, including AWS, Azure, and GCP, ensuring consistency and compliance across different platforms.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated communication and documentation skills.
Required Security Clearance:
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.
  • Active Interim Secret or final Secret clearance is preferred.
