Position Overview WhirlWind Technologies, LLC is seeking an experienced Sr. Cloud Systems Engineer who shall provide design, development, configuration, security, system analysis, and operational support for enterprise applications and related system development.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Duties include but are not limited to:
- Designs and implements enterprise infrastructure and platforms required for cloud computing.
- Analyzes system requirements and ensures that systems will be securely integrated with current applications.
- Has a deep understanding of system development in cloud environments, including Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Software as Service (SaaS), Platform as Service (PaaS), or Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).
- Design and provision AWS Core Services: EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, RDS, Route 53, CloudWatch
- Design and provision Azure Core Services: Azure VMs, Azure Storage, Azure Resource Manager (ARM), Virtual Networks, Azure Monitor, Azure AD
- Reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.
- Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.
Key Technical Skills - IAC: Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager (ARM) Templates, Ansible, Pulmi, or Chef/Puppet
- Provisioning & Automation: Scripting with Bash, PowerShell, or Python; CI/CD pipeline tools (e.g., Github/Gitlab Actions, Azure DevOps, CodePipeline); Configuration of auto-scaling, load balancers, and disaster recovery
- Security & Compliance: IAM/Role-based access control (RBAD) in both AWS and Azure
- Network Security: NSGs, Security Groups, Firewalls, Private Endpoints
- Familiarity with FedRAMP, NIST, and SOC2
- Networking & System Integration: VPC/VNet design and management; VPN, ExpressRoute, AWS Direct Connect, DNS, DHCP, routing, and IP management in multi-cloud environments
- Monitoring & Logging: AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Application Insights, ELK Stack, Splunk, Log Analytics, Alerting, dashboards, and health check for infrastructure reliability
- Strong documentation practices using Confluence, Markdown, or Architecture Diagrams
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum or DevOps environments
- Ability to collaborate across engineering, security, and operations teams
- Strong troubleshooting and incident response mindset
Education - Minimum BS/BA degree in related field (or equivalent certification, or years of experience)
- At least one or more current certifications from the list below:
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional
- AWS Certified Advanced Networking - Specialty
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert
- Microsoft Certified: Microsoft 365 Enterprise Administrator Expert
Requirements - Minimum 4 years of Cloud proficiency experience
- Modernization efforts through Cloud integration
- Configure and manage CI/CD DevOps Pipelines
- Serves as the technical lead on special projects
- Collaborates with other OCIO teams
