Who We Are

We're a small team responsible for testing a complex platform that works very closely with both engineering and product/project/program management. Our QA team has a big impact on not just the quality of everything we release, but also in what we build, how it's built, and when it gets released. We're lucky enough to work with a team that fully understands the value of QA and makes sure that we are able to have a large impact on the company.

What We're Looking For

Someone that's ready to dig in and understand the complexities of the Afero platform. Ideally, you have experience with complex client/server consumer products and are capable of doing platform-level testing to identify issues with device, service, and app interactions.

Candidates should have the following at a minimum:

  • 5+ years of backend service QA experience, with RESTful API servers. This includes creation and execution of test cases, filing and verifying bugs. It is important to have worked through multiple full product cycles and to have shipped products.
  • Experience with cloud services (AWS or GCP)
  • Empathy for users, an eye for usability, and ability to invent imaginative, but reality-based, tests would all be advantageous.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential you'll be expected to write clear and well-constructed bug reports, test cases, and documentation.
  • Attention to detail is critical.
  • It's important that you have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. You'll be expected to interact with the entire Engineering team, while managing and prioritizing your own tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Have the right to work legally in the USA.

The following skills and experiences are also valued:

  • Experience with any form of test automation
  • Experience working with Embedded firmware (e.g. ESP32 based devices)
  • Experience working with Embedded Linux based devices

Salary: $150,000 - $190,000 a year

The US base salary range for this full-time position is expected to be $150,000 - $190,000. Actual pay is determined by a range of factors including work location, job-related skills and experience, relevant education, training or certifications, and other business and organizational needs. At Afero, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. This range reflects base salary only; Afero also offers competitive benefits and equity compensation which are not included in these numbers.
