Senior AWS Cloud Engineer
Ideal Start Date: Mid-June
Contract role on W2 (6 months to start, potential for ongoing extension)
Hybrid - 3 days per week onsite in Franklin, TN
Position Overview:
As the Senior Cloud Engineer (AWS), you will be responsible for migrating legacy mainframe workloads to AWS, architecting scalable serverless solutions, and supporting modern DevOps practices. You'll play a key role in building event-driven applications using AWS services like Lambda, DynamoDB, and API Gateway, while collaborating with cross-functional teams on enterprise cloud initiatives. This role requires deep expertise in AWS, NodeJS, and infrastructure-as-code with Terraform. You'll also contribute to innovation and technical leadership, helping shape future-state cloud architectures.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in cloud architecture and deployment
- Strong expertise in AWS services, especially serverless technologies (Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway)
- Proficiency in NodeJS and experience with Terraform and Jenkins
- Solid understanding of event-driven architecture and CI/CD pipelines
- AWS Certification(s) preferred (e.g., Solutions Architect)
- Experience in SQL and cost optimization within AWS
- Prior experience migrating mainframe workloads to cloud environments
Responsibilities:
- Lead migration of mainframe workloads to AWS cloud
- Design and implement scalable, event-driven serverless applications
- Write clean, efficient code in NodeJS and maintain infrastructure via Terraform
- Collaborate with teams across development, DevOps, and architecture
- Troubleshoot issues and stay up to date with AWS best practices and innovations
