Program Overview Supports the transformation and modernization of legacy Coast Guard systems and services including mobility, messaging, ITSM, ITAM, Network Infrastructure, and legacy data systems from on premise implementations to cloud and hybrid cloud solutions. New system and service implementations, including zero trust architecture, to provide leading edge systems that are both secure and accessible. About The Role Peraton is seeking a Senior Cloud Architect to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is located in Alexandria, VA and will focus on cloud architecture and design across a multi-account multi-environment enterprise cloud offering. The ideal candidate will become part of Peraton's United States Coast Guard (USCG) Infrastructure Managed Services (IMS) program. This program is an enterprise IT delivery service and is executed to bring innovation and modernization to the USCG enterprise IT environment, within a managed service business model. The USCG enterprise encompasses an extensive range of IT infrastructure services and has unique solution challenges to meet their mission needs. The Senior Cloud Architect will work as part of an enterprise cloud services team to and will utilize knowledge of cloud computing technologies and current cloud trends to develop cloud architecture solutions. The cloud architect's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Utilizing expert knowledge of cloud computing technologies and current computing trends to identify cloud architecture solutions with an emphasis in AWS technologies.
Apply an enterprise view of cloud and develop designs accordingly and have a willingness to branch out into multiple cloud disciplines.
Develop detailed documentation during planning and implementation.
Develop and maintain cloud security strategies, including compliance monitoring and management.
Develop of proof-of-concept pilots for cloud technologies
Proactively work to evolve/enhance the existing enterprise cloud architecture (e.g. security, automation, monitoring, etc.)
Collaborate with business partners, architects, and other groups to identify technical and functional needs of systems and determine priority of needs.
Collaborate with customer teams to deliver new capabilities in business applications and/or remediate issues.
Implement architecture solutions/technologies using IaaC and SDKs
Assist in leading the team/organization with establishing or evolving cloud best practices
Effectively communicate complicated cloud reports to leadership and IT partners
Staying current with emerging trends and advancements in cloud technologies and platforms.
Qualifications Basic Qualifications: BS/BA degree with 12 years' relevant experience or high school diploma/equivalent and 16 years experience
10 years of experience implementing enterprise-wide cloud programs of similar scope and complexity - including familiarity with Cloud Access Point (CAP) architectures and using Hybrid Multi Cloud (AWS/Azure)
5 years of experience in cloud service design and architecture and Agile methodologies
Demonstrated experience interfacing with customer senior leadership
Experience architecting and designing technical solutions using combination of IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS
Experience decomposing customer requirements and propose appropriate architectural solutions
Effective communication skills (written and verbal) to properly articulate complicated cloud reports to management and other IT partners and management
Experience with automated provisioning of infrastructure across multiple cloud (AWS/Azure) accounts spanning multiple environments using Infrastructure as a Code
Certifications: ITIL4 Foundation, CTBME, AWS or Azure Practitioner, AWS or Azure Architect AWS Solution Architect - Associate certification required, professional preferred
U.S. Citizenship required; must have an active Secret clearancePreferred Qualifications: Demonstrated experience with app migrations to AWS/Azure leveraging services and tools
Experience in hybrid cloud environment including operating public and private cloud technologies
Experience with creating, deploying, configuring and scaling infrastructure in AWS and Azure
Experience designing highly availability systems and infrastructure in AWS and Azure
Experience working with cloud native monitoring and logging tools
Experience with financial management in cloud using tools
Excellent technical leadership
Ability to work independently and provide effective solutions
SCA / Union / Intern Rate or Range Details Target Salary Range: $135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
