Primary Responsibilities:

  • Actively manage and execute contract trades adhering to the Company's compliance and risk management guidelines.
  • Manage the desk's blend operations, collaborating closely with the CPP trading team to optimize blends and identify trading opportunities.
  • Responsible for advising trader of potential issues and developing a logistical solution to optimize deal execution within deal limits, in terms of both cost minimization and margin maximization.
  • Manage the safe, compliant, and efficient movement of products via various modes of transportation.
  • Effectively communicate with terminal personnel to ensure load orders, discharge orders and tank transfers are conducted efficiently.
  • Maintain daily communication (written and verbal) between customers, suppliers, and vessel/barge/truck owners/operators to ensure all orders are conducted in a timely manner and as per contract.
  • Tank farm management- including scheduling and monitoring of tank transfers, quality and quantity review, sampling, and blending operations to ensure compliance with contractual terms as well as maximize profitability. Perform EOM Tankage reconciliation.
  • Request Storage Releases/LC's through Finance Department.
  • Review and approve all operational related invoices.
  • Work closely with Middle Office to ensure accurate deal entry into the ETRM.
  • Provide timely and accurate daily inventory position and cargo updates to traders.
  • Nominate cargo inspectors, ship agents and loss control where applicable.
  • Inform customers of all cargo details (ETA's, load volume) and provide necessary documents (BL's, COO's, COA's, etc.) to comply with all import/export regulations.
  • Responsible for the shipping documentation administration, this includes but is not limited to preparation, verification, processing, filing, and record keeping.
  • Maintain a commercial mindset while scheduling and operating vessels to load and deliver cargoes along the value chain, as well as look out for possibilities to capitalize on opportunities and/or add value to supply chain.
  • Accurate record keeping of operational deal movements to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Serve as logistics expert to commercial in all transport matters- truck, rail, marine & storage.
  • Deal with cargo and freight counterparties, terminals, and vessels on a regular basis regarding all post-deal activities ensuring all necessary operational information is passed on in good time and documentary requirements are met.
  • Identify and maximize the embedded optionality within charter party agreements (i.e. laycans, demurrage rates, ship space parceling, ship swaps, backhaul opportunities).
  • Work closely with other Novum offices to organize and coordinate the logistics of product shipments.
  • Attend industry events, developing strategic business relationships with external operators.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Supply Chain, Finance, Mathematics, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or other energy-related fields.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar trading environment role, having previously handled operations for a physical commodity. The candidate should be knowledgeable with demurrage, incoterms, blending and all operational procedures related to vessel management and tank management.
  • Proficiency with data management and reporting in ETRMs.
  • Comprehensive understanding of trading models and trading strategies and exposures that arise out of them.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interface with all levels of management.
  • Ability to work independently and without supervision, ensuring deadlines are strictly adhered to.
  • Energetic, responsive team player with the interest to take initiative and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to demonstrate problem-solving skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams).
  • Ability to work flexible hours when needed; this includes after business hours, weekends, and holidays.
