The Role & Responsibilities
- Be a senior member of the Bridging Underwriting Team, delivering required origination levels
- Specialize in larger, complex transactions (£2.5m+), engaging with stakeholders like Group Risk, Head of Underwriting, and Credit Committees
- Prepare detailed credit papers following client interviews and property site visits across the UK
- Ensure favorable customer outcomes and adherence to credit and lending policies
- Embed risk management frameworks within underwriting activities
- Exercise delegated lending authority up to £2.5m and participate in special projects
- Support and coach underwriters, approve cases outside mandates, and contribute to credit recommendations
- Report to the Senior Manager - Underwriting and Support, liaising with Group Credit Risk and Deal Forums
The Person
- Extensive Bridging & commercial lending experience
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of TCF and compliance procedures in mortgages
- Skilled in financial analysis, valuations, and credit searches
- Analytical, pragmatic, adaptable, and flexible
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Capable of working independently and in teams
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Enthusiastic, proactive, and self-driven
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
