The Role & Responsibilities
  • Work as a senior member of the Bridging Underwriting Team to meet origination targets
  • Specialize in larger, complex transactions (£2.5m+), engaging with stakeholders including Group Risk, Head of Underwriting, and Credit Committees
  • Prepare detailed credit papers following client interviews and property site visits across the UK
  • Ensure favorable customer outcomes in credit assessment and experience
  • Analyze credit risks, adhering to Asset Class and Lending Policies across all defense lines
  • Implement the Bank and Division's Risk Management Framework in underwriting activities
  • Exercise delegated lending authority up to £2.5m and participate in ad-hoc projects
  • Coach and support underwriters, sign off cases outside mandates, and assist in Credit Committee recommendations
  • Report to the Senior Manager - Underwriting and Support, liaising with Group Credit Risk and Deal Forums
The Person
  • Extensive Bridging & commercial banking/lending experience
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of TCF and compliance procedures within mortgage industry
  • Experience reading financial accounts, valuations, business appraisals, and credit searches
  • Analytical, pragmatic approach to underwriting
  • Adaptable, flexible, and proactive
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
