The Role
As the Senior BMS - Quality Manager and Pathology Lead, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of pathology services. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you will oversee the operational and strategic direction of the laboratory, ensuring compliance with UKAS standards, clinical governance, and continuous quality improvement.
You will:
- Lead and manage the pathology department, ensuring excellent diagnostic services
- Oversee and develop the department's Quality Management System (QMS) to meet ISO 15189 standards
- Act as the designated Quality Lead for UKAS accreditation processes
- Support and mentor a team of Biomedical Scientists and laboratory staff
- Drive innovation, service development, and implementation of best practices
- Liaise with clinical teams to ensure laboratory services meet patient needs
- Manage resources, budgets, and service-level performance reporting
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual with:
- HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist
- MSc or equivalent desirable
- Significant experience in a senior BMS role, with demonstrated leadership responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of ISO 15189 standards and experience with UKAS audits/accreditation
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team in a high-pressure environment
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- A patient-centred approach and commitment to clinical excellence
