At Lilly, we unite caring with discovery to make life better for people around the world. We are a global healthcare leader headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. Our employees around the world work to discover and bring life-changing medicines to those who need them, improve the understanding and management of disease, and give back to our communities through philanthropy and volunteerism. We give our best effort to our work, and we put people first. We're looking for people who are determined to make life better for people around the world.

Are you looking to make a significant difference by contributing to the identification, validation and prioritization of targets and/or pathways that regulate immunity to support drug discovery efforts. Specifically, you will support drug development efforts focused on best-in-class and novel targets with the goal of modulating immunity for the treatment of a wide array of autoimmune disorders.

Responsibilities:

We are seeking a driven and self-motivated bench scientist with excellent research and communication skills to contribute to high visibility research projects focused on autoimmunity. You will be part of a cross-functional team that develops and runs assays to support drug discovery efforts on multiple programs. Your work will help to define the road map to discover therapeutics that target key immunological pathways. Specifically, you will support assay development, data generation and interpretation, and the development of reagents to characterize different immunological pathways that regulate immunity. Our multi-disciplinary group is working to both support the discovery of novel drug targets, drive drug discovery efforts, and to support the clinical development of therapeutics for the treatment of autoimmunity. In this role, you will:

Design, implement, and interpret experiments in a collaborative team environment via:

  • The generation of cell-based assays to support drug discovery efforts system such as primary cell assays focused on macrophages, lymphocytes, and other immune- and non-immune-related cell types.

  • Develop and implement flow cytometry assays to monitor cell signaling, alterations in cell lineages, and characterization of cell populations in both normal and diseased tissues from pre-clinical models of disease and humans.

  • Utilized cell sorting technologies that are both flow cytometry- and non-flow cytometry-based to characterize specific immune cell subtypes.

  • Use modern molecular biology techniques such as RNA isolation, qRT-PCR, and CRISPR-mediated technologies to generate both point mutations, gene knockouts, or allele replacement to support target validation and drug discovery flow scheme development.

  • Independently design, analyze, interpret and present experimental data to a broad cross-functional audience.

Basic Requirements:

  • B.S./ with 2+ years or M.S. in immunology, molecular and cellular biology, or related field

  • Expertise in innate and cell-mediated immunity preferred but not required.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Self-directed and highly motivated individual who wants to learn new techniques while continually pursuing research and publication goals.

  • Proficiency with immortalized and primary cell culture.

  • Experienced with flow cytometric analysis of immune cell subtypes.

  • Knowledge and/ore experience with ELISA, Luminex, MSD, PBMC isolation, and other molecular biology techniques.

  • Demonstrable understanding of various in vivo models of autoimmune or inflammatory disease.

  • The absence of any of these preferred skills can be mitigated by a strong desire to learn in collaborative fashion within a diverse and supportive group of scientists with a singular focus of bring transformational therapeutics to patients in need.
