As a Senior Backend Software Engineer in our Enterprise Platforms Technology (EPTech) division, you will play a crucial role in driving major transformations within Capital One. EPTech encompasses many of our vital enterprise platforms, establishing best practices for technology solutions across the organization while delivering capabilities that exemplify those practices.
What You'll Do: - Lead a diverse portfolio of technology projects and a team of skilled developers with advanced expertise in distributed microservices and full-stack systems.
- Design and implement solutions that satisfy regulatory requirements for the company.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, experimenting and learning through participation in technology communities, while mentoring fellow engineers.
- Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions that empower millions of Americans financially.
- Utilize programming languages such as Java, Python, SQL, Node, Go, and Scala, along with Open Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services like Docker and Kubernetes, and various AWS tools and services.
Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree
- At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience (internship experience does not count).
- At least 1 year of experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).
Preferred Qualifications: - Master's Degree
- 7+ years of experience in Java, Scala, Python, Go, or Node.js.
- 2+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service.
- 4+ years of experience with open source frameworks.
- 1+ years of people management experience.
- 2+ years of experience in Agile methodologies.

The salary range for this position in McLean, VA is $193,400 - $220,700 for a Manager or Lead Software Engineer. The actual salary will be reflected in the candidate's offer letter and may vary based on location. This role is eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, including cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives.
