About The Role
RAC has multiple opportunities for Senior Backend Software Engineers with a product-oriented background to be key players in our exciting transformation journey. In this role, you will contribute to developing and implementing RAC's digital strategy using agile methodologies, values, and procedures.
Engineers at RAC are central to our technical strategy, consistently striving for engineering excellence within themselves and their teams.
The role is hybrid, requiring 2 days per week in our Bristol or Bescot office.
What you will do
- Push the boundaries of the organisation's coding practices, extending languages and libraries as needed.
- Lead efforts to improve documentation and coding skills across the organisation, actively encouraging better understanding and readability of code.
- Mentor team members regularly, raising the overall quality of code.
- Develop expertise in the organization's architecture, including all domains, their bounded contexts, and interactions.
- Work effectively in large teams, applying appropriate design patterns to enable high-volume releases.
- Take ownership of engineering decisions, helping others make aligned choices, and ensuring accountability and bias awareness.
- Manage technical debt and prioritize testing and security.
- Understand complex technical issues beyond your immediate stack.
- Follow best practices throughout the software engineering lifecycle.
What you will need
- Proficiency with technologies such as C , .NET Core, .NET 8, SQL, Cosmos DB, Azure Cloud, and Kubernetes.
- Deep knowledge of industry-standard tools and languages used within RAC's tech ecosystem.
- Strong understanding of agile development methodologies, values, and procedures.
- Commitment to automation best practices.
- Ability to coach and help the team reach their potential.
- Self-motivated, creative, and efficient in solving complex, time-critical problems.
- Capability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
