Job Description

We are looking for a seasoned Backend Software Architect to join our innovative team. In this role, you will design and develop server-side components for a complex connected medical device, leveraging your expertise in systems engineering, data engineering, APIs, databases, AI model development, and security. Much of the cloud implementation will be new development, and while this is a non-management position, there is potential for expanded responsibilities as the team grows.

Role Responsibilities
  • Design and implement a resilient server-side architecture in a public cloud environment.
  • Contribute to vital system design decisions that affect both device and client software.
  • Mentor and support team members by encouraging knowledge sharing across the organization.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers and cross-functional teams to plan and build effective solutions.
  • Document architectural designs and key decision-making processes thoroughly.
  • Ensure compliance with medical software standards and regulations.
  • Adhere to coding best practices to produce clear, reproducible, and well-documented code.
Required Qualifications
  • Proven experience in building cloud systems, particularly with Azure.
  • Strong proficiency in developing production-quality applications in Python.
  • Expertise in designing data pipelines, databases, application servers, and storage solutions, especially for time-series datasets.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the complete software lifecycle for medical data products; successful experience delivering multiple items to production.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and handling Protected Health Information (PHI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
  • In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity and privacy best practices with hands-on application experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with medical sensor data, time series data, and/or brain data.
  • Knowledge of modern ML and Data Science techniques.
  • Experience implementing cloud DevOps practices, including CI/CD and environment configuration.
